There’s Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’s personal trailer on the set of her first ever US Television Debut, VH1′s original scripted comedy series ‘Bounce.‘

Omotola has a guest role on the series which stars among others,  Hollywood A’ Lister; Kimberly Elise and Dean Cain. Bounce follows the lives and loves of the Los Angeles Devil Girls, the dance team for the country’s No. 1 professional basketball team.

This is a huge deal for Omotola Jalade who is officially the first Nollywood star to gain a US Prime Time TV role. Congratulations woman!

Omotola certainly knows how to build relationships. I have a feeling that Kimberly Elise presented this opportunity to her, as the two women were co-stars in Leila Djansi’s ‘Ties that Bind.’ I’m excited to see how she performs among her Hollywood trained colleagues. I’m rooting for you Omosexy.

You see I have had people un-friend me on Facebook because I dared criticize some young Cameroonian talent as ‘Nigeria copycats.’ So when I talk about originality, I urge you to listen to Naomi Achu’s rap in this remix.

First Automobile Works commonly known as FAW has announced that it will build its first Car Assembly Plant in Cameroon in 2013. This news came on the heels of a meeting between Paul Biya of Cameroon and FAW’s Director General of Constructions, Lu Fuquing.

Fuquing cited Cameroon’s stability and geographical location within Africa as the reasons for choosing it for their assembly plant.

While we welcome this news, I take it with trepidation for the following reason;

A few years ago, during a question and answer session with Prime Minister Philemon Yang, that was held in London. The Prime minister was ‘proud’ to announce that the Cameroon Government had handed out contracts for the Bauxite and Ore mining operations to Americans, Chinese etc, and that these contracts were given out on a 70-30% basis. That is these foreign companies were only required to employ 30% of the local labour. I have never ever felt so utterly defeated and frustrated as I felt that night. That was the night I completely lost faith in our Government.

So you will understand why I welcome this news with trepidation.

Quincy Delight Jones Jr also traced his genealogy back to Cameroon.

Pentecostal pastor and author Bishop T.D. Jakes  is also a brother. Who would have thought?

And of course Yaphet Kotto who is the great-grandson of King Alexander Bell of Douala.

MY TAKE

It’s great to know that we did not lose most of our ancestors to the bottom of the sea as they were carted away to work as subhumans in faraway lands.First of all, wow! That is a lot of talent from Cameroon. I guess there’s something in our DNA that just screams entertainment. Lol!

Let me make a suggestion here, basing it on the fact that these celebrities would be interested in adopting Cameroon. If I was Paul Biya, I will approve Dual Citizenship for Cameroonians. Some of these names could really benefit our economy in different ways or even inspire the younger Cameroonian generation in some way.

My question is this; why are they so angry? Are they angry that Rick Ross exposed an area of Lagos that Nigerians want to ignore? I know there are slums (ghettos) too in the USA and we’ve seen a few of them in movies and music videos. Hopefully this embarrasses the government to an extent that they help the ‘innovative’ Governor Fashola who’s doing his best to rebuild Lagos into a 21st century city.
