MY TAKE

Omotola certainly knows how to build relationships. I have a feeling that Kimberly Elise presented this opportunity to her, as the two women were co-stars in Leila Djansi’s ‘Ties that Bind.’ I’m excited to see how she performs among her Hollywood trained colleagues. I’m rooting for you Omosexy.

There’s a saying that “There’s nothing more deadly than a woman scorned,” and I’m sure Nollywood actor Jim Iyke now understands that phrase all too well.

Blogger and columnist Stella Dimoko Korkus, Nigeria’s version of Perez Hilton wrote a scathing open memo to Jim Iyke on her blog last monday. Read excerpts of the blog post below:

Before i start with this;I know Jim WILL GO AROUND POSTING TRASH as anonymous on where ever this memo comes up but who cares?

You live on the Internet defending yourself on various blogs and posting incoherent babash, cussing out the blog owners remember?Be my guest.

I start this memo by quoting the lyrics from Abolore Akandes(9ice)song where he mentioned the words “baaaaastard”in reference to his ex friend rugged man.
Ikechukwu(Jim my axx) you are exactly what 9ice said,a “baaaaastard”
.
I did an exclusive story that your 11yr old son has surfaced,which is true,abi you wan contest am?
The story went viral and probably spoilt your chances of one of your yahoo-yahoo love scams in Houston where you are as I write this. —and you go gaga?

…And you used your cunnilingus fingernails to dial my home phone and use the swear words on my family ……to the hearing of my children who are still traumatized,the children you so badly desire to have one day as a human being,the ones you used to refer to as “beautiful’.
You called me “ugly bitch” and you are so frigging correct,the thing is of all your plenty sisters,I cannot remember anyone of them winning the Most beautiful girl in Nigeria beauty pageant or even Miss world.
Your anger has brought you nothing but bad luck.ask yourself why you have no true friends or why no press man will touch you with a long pole. …go on,ask yourself!

You keep threatening to beat up anyone you enter into your log of bad books and I wonder if you are Superman. Na so you go Cameron them beat you so tey your fingers broke and you cooked up the “falling on a glass table”story.tell it to the cuckoos!

Click on Stella to read the rest of the letter.

I wonder what Jim Iyke did to this lady. Do you think this letter will affect Jim Iyke’s career in any way?

By the way, did you know that Jim is now mostly based in Cameroon?

WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?

First Automobile Works commonly known as FAW has announced that it will build its first Car Assembly Plant in Cameroon in 2013. This news came on the heels of a meeting between Paul Biya of Cameroon and FAW’s Director General of Constructions, Lu Fuquing.

Fuquing cited Cameroon’s stability and geographical location within Africa as the reasons for choosing it for their assembly plant.

While we welcome this news, I take it with trepidation for the following reason;

A few years ago, during a question and answer session with Prime Minister Philemon Yang, that was held in London. The Prime minister was ‘proud’ to announce that the Cameroon Government had handed out contracts for the Bauxite and Ore mining operations to Americans, Chinese etc, and that these contracts were given out on a 70-30% basis. That is these foreign companies were only required to employ 30% of the local labour. I have never ever felt so utterly defeated and frustrated as I felt that night. That was the night I completely lost faith in our Government.

So you will understand why I welcome this news with trepidation.

I have often wondered which of my favourite African-American Actor or singer originated from Cameroon. You see as a young girl growing up in Yaounde, Cameroon, I always imagined R&B singer R. Kelly as my husband. That’s right, I planned our whole lives together down to our children’s’ names. Ah! My beautiful fantasy world.

As I grew up and fantasy faded and reality pushed harder and forced me to deal with it. I realized that my chances of being Mrs R. Kelly were… (I’ll leave you to complete that statement.) So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon African Ancestry and their role in helping African-Americans trace their genealogy (roots) back to the motherland. Secretly I still hope that my dream husband R. Kelly will turn out to be Cameroonian. I can hear you laughing…

Below are some African-American celebrities of Cameroonian ethnic Origin.

Actor Don Cheadle

Comedian and Actor Anthony Anderson was pretty excited to be part Cameroonian.

When asked where he thinks he’s ancestors come from, Anthony Anderson said this;

the Artist in me wants to say Cameroon because that’s where the Artists come from.”

Watch the video below for his reaction;

Oscar nominated actress Taraji ‘Penda’ Henson ethnic background also hails from Cameroon. Her middle name gave it away for me as it’s a name from the Littoral region of Cameroon. Watch the video below for her reaction;

Actress Vanessa Williams‘ reaction when she traced her roots to Cameroon touched me to the core as it seemed so genuine. So glad to have you sister. Watch her reaction below;

Tasha and Sidra Smith.

Identical twin actress, Tasha Smith’s ethnic background includes the Bubi people of Equatorial Guinea and the Tikar people of Cameroon. Note to Tasha: Time to claim your nationality from Equatorial Guinea. They are a very RICH nation now. Lol! But I think you’ll love Cameroon better.

Actor Chris Tucker’s ancestors also hail from the Bamileke people in Cameroon. I hope he inherited some of their business sense.

Conscientious rapper Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. aka Common is the latest celebrity to trace his origins from Cameroon according to African Ancestry.

Ooh la la! By the way, Common has a daughter with a Nigerian woman called Ekaete. I guess this brother has been connected to his African roots for some time now.

R&B singer Raheem Devaughn has also traced his roots to the Tikar people in Cameroon and the Balanta people of Guinea Bissau.

Acclaimed movie director Spike Lee was one of the first celebrities to trace his African roots. His ancestors hail from Niger and Cameroon.

Grammy Award winner and acclaimed songstress Roberta Flack best known for her song ‘Killing Me Softly’ also hails from Cameroon. Wow!

Quincy Delight Jones Jr also traced his genealogy back to Cameroon.

Pentecostal pastor and author Bishop T.D. Jakes is also a brother. Who would have thought?

And of course Yaphet Kotto who is the great-grandson of King Alexander Bell of Douala.

Others include:

Donnie Simpson – Cameroon

Dr. Ysaye Maria Barnwell – Cameroon

Frank Ski – Cameroon & Nigeria

Mark Thompson – Sierra Leone & Cameroon

Dr. John Hope Franklin – Cameroon

MY TAKE

It’s great to know that we did not lose most of our ancestors to the bottom of the sea as they were carted away to work as subhumans in faraway lands.First of all, wow! That is a lot of talent from Cameroon. I guess there’s something in our DNA that just screams entertainment. Lol!

Let me make a suggestion here, basing it on the fact that these celebrities would be interested in adopting Cameroon. If I was Paul Biya, I will approve Dual Citizenship for Cameroonians. Some of these names could really benefit our economy in different ways or even inspire the younger Cameroonian generation in some way.

WHAT’S YOUR TAKE?

My question is this; why are they so angry? Are they angry that Rick Ross exposed an area of Lagos that Nigerians want to ignore? I know there are slums (ghettos) too in the USA and we’ve seen a few of them in movies and music videos. Hopefully this embarrasses the government to an extent that they help the ‘innovative’ Governor Fashola who’s doing his best to rebuild Lagos into a 21st century city.
